Thank you for a great 2017 Upick Season! Join us for the next Upick season in mid-May – mid-June 2018!
We are excited to announce the dates for Upick 2017! We have 12 days, Fridays and Saturdays, during May and June where you can register to come pick lavender!
Join us on the farm and cut wonderful bundles of fresh lavender to take home with you! You can dry the bundles at home to enjoy them for years. Just think about that lovely smell in a beautiful bundle!
Check out and Share the Facebook Event!
Did you say register? Yes! As you may remember, we had a HUGE turn out to our Upick day in 2016 and we continue to hear from people how excited they are to come pick in 2017. We are excited to have you pick! And to help crowd flow and field access, we are putting a “cap” of 500-ish on each Upick day and charging $4 per person (over 7 years old). So, you’ll register for the day you wish to come and we’ll check you in when you get here. This may sound excessive to some, but we want to create an experience for those attending and we have many people interested.
To Register Go to our Calender, find the day you want, click on it, select the number of tickets you’ll need and go through the payment steps (Paypal or Credit Card). You will get your receipt and tickets via email. Bring your tickets with you via paper or smartphone to check in!
Dates (Fridays and Saturdays):
- May 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27
- June 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17
Time: 9am – 4pm – Stay the whole time or just for a little while!
Cost:
- $4 per person, 8 and up (7 and under are free)
- Bundles are $2-$10 and you can choose how much you pick (limit of 2 $10 bundles per paid ticket).
- Bring items for Greer Relief! (see “The Challenge” below.)
- We will have children’s activities again! Cloud dough, sensory rice, bubbles, and more!
Refunds & Date Changes & Weather
Emergencies happen. But we must plan for each day and event. Therefore, refunds will only be given up to 48 hours before the date you have registered. If you need to change dates, we can move you to a new date one time only and this must be done 48 hours before the date you have registered. Based on growing conditions and Mother Nature, we do need to reserve the right to change or cancel Upick dates, but we will have lots of communication in advance. If we do need to cancel for any reason, we will refund registrations. As far as weather, the season is a rain or shine event. Remember, if a day is rainy, since you can come any time between 9-4, you can plan your visit around weather. Thank you for your understanding on these policies.
What happens each day?
Yes, you must register via our website! On the day you have registered for, you’ll bring your ticket, we’ll check you in and give you instructions. We’ll provide scissors (please do not bring or use your own), but you can bring your own basket, bucket, or bag to hold the stems while you cut. When you are done cutting, we will measure the bundle and rubber band it. We have 5 bundles sizes from $2 to $10. There is a limit of 2 $10 bundles per person (that’s still a LOT). You can pick from any cultivar of lavender and all the rows will be labeled so you know what you are cutting. You can come cut your lavender and leave, or spend all day with us!
“The Challenge”
Last year, our attendees were Extremely gracious and provided the 2nd largest donation to Greer Relief for 2016 (raised $1,056 & and estimated over 5,000 food/household items! Donations will feed 135 households of 1-2 people for 20 days)! We want to keep this going!! If Upick attendees match the number of items brought in 2016 (5,000+), Southern Hills Lavender will donate $500 to Greer Relief! BUT, if attendees bring over 5,500 items, SHL will donate $1,000!! Be a part of a blessing to your community and help us in this challenge! Each week, we’ll get a tally of the items donated and keep attendees up to date as we work towards our goal.
Here is the list of items needed by Greer Relief: http://greerrelief.org/wish-lists/

Volunteers
We are going to need a lot of happy helpers for these 6 weeks! Are you interested in helping on the farm? You will receive a free Upick bundle and another goodie we are working on. Please Contact Us with your name and dates you are interested. We’ll figure out which job is best suited for you!
Vendors
In 2016, we had vendors set up tents on our one Upick day. We are holding our Upick over several weeks during this years’ season, so we have to change how we approach adding vendors. We want to connect with makers in the community who have products that relate to lavender and rent you space in our retail store during our Upick season, similar to a consignment model. As there are many maker events in the Upstate, we think this will be the best way to connect to and showcase local artisans. Since we don’t want to repeat our specific Southern Hills Lavender products and we’ll have limited space, each item will be carefully reviewed and considered. We will provide display/shelving space for display and cross-posting on social media for advertising. You provide your product, any descriptive signage and price tags and restock your inventory (you still own your products). We are currently working on a POS system to record the inventory. Your cost is for display rent, credit card processing and commission (this info will be discussed when you submit your product for consideration). What’s the benefit to you? We had 8,000 people last year visit our Upick and we expect many purchasers again this year!
So, do you have a product that contains, relates to, compliments, or makes sense with lavender? Do you make art, pottery, decorations, complimentary cosmetics, food items, dog treats, embroidery, linens, something outside of the box, etc with lavender or that relates to lavender? Submit information on your business and products.
Deadline is May 1, 2017.
